Rural-urban interdependencies and linkages are fundamental in anchoring sustainable and inclusive rural-urban space planning, designing and management. Growth and development in both urban and rural areas is predicated on the assumption that the social, economic, physical, political and environmental linkages are efficient and optimized for value addition. In this regard, the role that efficient transport and logistics systems, efficient and balanced spatial planning and development, infrastructure services and provision in the form of water supply and sanitation, electricity and power supplies, telecommunication, network connectivity and coverage efficiency etc.; play in stimulating and supporting growth and development inertia and initiatives is key.
